"The Greatest Gift You Can Bestow On Another
Is Knowledge"

is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization that provides groceries at a greatly reduced price. The program is open to residents of all income levels and there is no limit on the number of units an individual can purchase. There are no applications to fill out but orders must be paid for in advance. Each month's menu is different and includes a mix of fresh and frozen items with a much higher retail value than its cost of $30. Each box of food can feed a family of four for about a week, or a single senior citizen for almost a month.

Because there are often people who cannot afford adequate food for themselves and their families, food banks operate as a way of providing non-perishable or frozen goods to them at little or no cost. Food banks will usually get their food supplies from companies and supermarkets that want to donate unsaleable stock, as well as from public donations and government subsidies. Volunteers from local church organizations or community outreach programs often staff food banks. Food banks will often organize food drives during the holiday season in order to increase their supply of food and redistribute it in large amounts.
