                         We Stood For Freedom

We stood for freedom just like you
And loved the flag you cherish too

Our uniforms felt great to wear
You know the feel, and how you care

In step we marched, the cadence way
The same is true with you today

Oh how we tried to do our best
As you do now, from test to test

How young we were and proud to be
                                                    Defenders of true liberty

So many thoughts bind soldiers well
The facts may change, not how we jell

Each soldier past, and you now here
Do share what will not disappear

One thought now comes, straight from my heart
For soldiers home, who've done their part

I'm honored to have served with you
May Godly peace, help get you through

And now I'll end with a request
Do ponder this, while home at rest

                                                    America, respect our day
                                                    Each veteran, helped freedom stay

Readers, come here to find out the new things going on at
The Lighthouse Resource Digest

Hey Readers, there are lots of new things happening here.  We've added a couple of new pages and new features have been added on the home page.  Our new pages are "THE HOME TOWN JOURNAL".  Alan has brought back and updated at home town paper he used to publish many years ago.   Give it  a look.  He's putting some interesting stuff for your enjoyment.

The second page is "CRUMP ELECTRONICS ONLINE".  My husband, Roger, is one of the associates on this website.  He has put together a page advertising his profession as an Electronics Tech.  He's worked at this for over 30 years.  He's got experience working an not only the computers of today but he's also proficient in keeping your vintage toys up and running.

We also have some new features on the HOME PAGE.  We have a section called "In Remembrance", a section we are offering for you to list the names of loved ones, friends, etc who have passed.  Maybe you would like to pay respects to them.  We also, have a "Birthday" section.  Once again we would love for you to give a unique gift to that special someone on their special day.

We are also wanting to "Thank" our readers for their support by  featuring "Your Hometown".  We will randomly choose a town our readers are from and tell a little something about it to the rest of the world.

And lastly, we brought back our local activities section called "What's Going On...?"  This section is for anyone wanting to tell about a local activity going on in your town, church, school, etc.  We have a huge readership and there could possibly be someone in your town who will see the info.

Lastly, our Fanpages on Facebook have been updated.  We encourage you to visit "Looking To Help You Family Resource Magazine" and "World Petz Day"

All these sections are FREE to you as our way of saying THANKS for your continued support.

Enjoy.....Teri

                                                               Titanic Leaving Southampton   TITANIC

100 YEARS AGO....A FAITHFUL VOYAGE SAILED INTO HISTORY'S WORST HIGH SEA'S DISASTER!

On April 10, 1912, the Titanic, largest ship afloat, left Southampton, England on her maiden voyage to New York City. The White Star Line had spared no expense in assuring her luxury. A legend even before she sailed, her passengers were a mixture of the world's wealthiest basking in the elegance of first class accommodations and immigrants packed into steerage.

The Washington Post announces the disaster
She was touted as the safest ship ever built, so safe that she carried only 20 lifeboats - enough to provide accommodation for only half her 2,200 passengers and crew. This discrepancy rested on the belief that since the ship's construction made her "unsinkable," her lifeboats were necessary only to rescue survivors of other sinking ships. Additionally, lifeboats took up valuable deck space.

Four days into her journey, at 11:40 P.M. on the night of April 14, she struck an iceberg. Her fireman compared the sound of the impact to "the tearing of calico, nothing more." However, the collision was fatal and the icy water soon poured through the ship.

It became obvious that many would not find safety in a lifeboat. Each passenger was issued a life jacket but life expectancy would be short when exposed to water four degrees below freezing. As the forward portion of the ship sank deeper, passengers scrambled to the stern. John Thayer witnessed the sinking from a lifeboat. "We could see groups of the almost fifteen hundred people still aboard, clinging in clusters or bunches, like swarming bees; only to fall in masses, pairs or singly, as the great after part of the ship, two hundred and fifty feet of it, rose into the sky, till it reached a sixty-five or seventy degree angle." The great ship slowly slid beneath the waters two hours and forty minutes after the collision

The next morning, the liner Carpathia rescued 705 survivors. One thousand five hundred twenty-two passengers and crew were lost. Subsequent inquiries attributed the high loss of life to an insufficient number of lifeboats and inadequate training in their use.

It's Beginning To Look Like Spring!

"Spring makes its own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems to be only one of the instruments, not the composer."  ~Geoffrey B. Charlesworth

Spring is a time when flowers blossoms amongst fresh picturesque backdrops! It denotes a new growth and a new beginning as well. Spring is one of my favorite seasons, as it tends to always keep me pepped up as well. This is the time when you can hear birds chirping softly as new buds cover the greens. For all the lovers of this season, here are some interesting and funny spring quotes that speak about the splendors of this season!

                                                                                                    My Daughter's Candy Kisses

                                                   By Alan S. Richards

The greatest love a father can give his daughter is to embrace her with indulgences, tease her with spoils, and provide a never ending supply of candy chocolate kisses upon her request. As a  blossoming young Father at 23, I wanted to bring my first daughter the world and begun spoiling her following the taunting umbilical cord cutting ceremony.

SHE CAPTURED MY HEART.  My daughter was my life. Everyone knows that women adores their first born daughter, but a Father... a father devours them with hugs, kisses, and opens up his wallet  to buy her anything she wants at a moments notice. The beginning of the end of monetary budgets and fiscal responsibility.

AS THE YEARS PASSED. Throughout her early storybook toddler years, my daughter lived through late night storybook  seminars, tummy aches, and Dad  lavishing her with an endless array of brilliant colored foiled candy chocolate kisses to help chase away the bogie man at bedtime. Thank God my wife had packed away endless boxes of Crest toothpaste and  Oral “B” toothbrushes in the war against tooth decay because my daughter shared a set of million dollar gems that any  Dentist would envy.

Following pre-school jitters and elementary school crushes, my daughter’s childhood development had sculptured her into a beautiful young lassie and she shared the beauty of a Texas rose. The hey days of midnight walks, broken hearts, and Father’s late night date patrol were gone and at 22, my daughter Amy began unwrapping the finished product that God had assembled and her yearning heart yielded to cupid’s bow and arrow. She was leaving home and I was losing my life long struggle to protect her from the big bad wolves of the world.  Now I felt my heart was breaking because my little girl was all grown up and I had to live with the truth that a father’s Love is endless but little girls blossom and mature into beautiful Ladies, Brides, and Mom’s.

Cedar Point Amusement Park

Many riders raise their hands aboard Millennium Force.

Cedar Point, including Cedar Point's Roller Coasters

Ohio Amusement Park

 About.com Guide

They don't call Cedar Point "America's Roller Coast" for nothin'. See the amusement park's incredible arsenal of thrill machines, including Magnum XL-200, Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Maverick, and Gemini, as well as some of its other wild array of rides.

Always rated among the best of the traditional amusement parks, Cedar Point opened in 1870 and never stopped growing. Located on a peninsula along Lake Erie, the sandy beaches that beckoned visitors more than a century ago are still enticing, but it's mostly the coasters that lure the throngs today.

While the Point revels in its past and offers a wonderful hint of nostalgia, it is utterly contemporary and boasts a beloved thrill machine arsenal that includes Magnum XL-200, the first hypercoaster to break the 200-foot threshold, Millennium Force, a 300-foot "Giga-coaster" and one of parkdom's most highly rated, and the 420-foot rocket coaster that dominates the skyline, Top Thrill Dragster. A dizzying assortment of other attractions includes virtually every spinning, soaking, swinging, and disorienting ride ever developed. Although the rides take center stage, Cedar Point also offers a decent lineup of stage shows.

More than a collection of world-class coasters and rides, Cedar Point has a well-deserved reputation for its overall guest experience. The park is always winning industry and fan-based awards.

Be aware that the park is HUGE. From the front entrance to the back of the park where Maverick beckons is 1.5 miles. (I should know; I left an item in the lockers by the main gate and had to make the 3-mile round-trip trek to retrieve it.) Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and plan your day so that your'e not criss-crossing the park.

The food is just OK at Cedar Point. Some people rave about the fries and pizza; I thought they were mediocre. There is a Johnny Rockets and an all-you-can-eat buffet inside the park; just outside the gates is a Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que.

In recent years, Cedar Point has been adding rooms to its on-site hotels and transforming into a destination resort. Accommodations include the historic Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle, Lighthouse Point, and Breakers Express. With the Castaway Bay Indoor Water Park Resort, Cedar Point now offers year-round fun.

Location and Phone:

Sandusky, Ohio
419-627-2350

Tickets and Admission Info

Passes to the amusement park include admission to the ride park only, not the Soak City water park. Combo day passes that include the water park are available. Cedar Point offers substantially discounted tickets for seniors (62 and older) and juniors (under 48"). Children under 3 admitted free. Season pass tickets are available online and at the park. Combo season passes are available for the park and Soak City as well as for the park and Geauga Lake.
